Best Ski Resorts in Europe for Couples

If you’ve visited our site before, you will know that we absolutely love being in the snow - whether it’s snowboarding, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or simple wintery hikes, we love it all!

Having said that, there is something particularly special about being able to ski (or, in our case, snowboard) together as a couple. Being able to tackle the slopes together and visiting the Apres ski bar or spa afterwards is an incredible way to spend a winter getaway.

In fact, one of the reasons you should go skiing as a couple is that it creates truly special memories that will last a lifetime. It’s why we always recommend working a ski season as one of our gap year suggestions for couples.

With that in mind, we thought creating a list of the Best Ski Resorts in Europe for Couples would be a good idea.

As much as we’d love to say otherwise, we unfortunately haven’t visited every European ski resort - not yet, anyway - so instead, we have asked some of our Travel Blogging friends to give recommendations of their favourite Ski Resorts in Europe for couples.

All the European Ski Resorts on this list offer opportunities for romantic activities away from the runs, as well as fantastic skiing/snowboarding opportunities on the slopes.

Best Ski Resorts in France for Couples

As we got quite a few different suggestions for Skiing in Europe as a couple, we have decided to break them down into 3 categories: Best Ski Resorts in France for Couples, Best Ski Resorts in Italy for Couples and Best Ski Resorts in the Rest of Europe for Couples.

Unsurprisingly, France and Italy are the 2 most popular destinations for romantic winter getaways in Europe, so we figured they would need their own sections.

Chamonix Ski Resort

Recommended by Kate Fletcher from Bags-Always-Packed

The first time I visited Chamonix on vacation, it was love at first sight. The dramatic mountains looming over such a picture-perfect town will woo anyone who comes here.

After just a few days in Chamonix, I ran straight to the embassy to apply for a French working holiday visa so I could live here in the Alps.

I lived in Chamonix for a year with my partner, and I can absolutely attest to how magical this incredible town can be. If you’re looking for a resort where you can ski some amazing slopes, enjoy world-class restaurants, peruse high-class fashion stores, and cuddle up with a cup of gluhwein with a view, Chamonix will tick all those boxes and more.

Located in the French Alps just steps from both the Italian and Swiss borders, getting to Chamonix couldn’t be easier, with plenty of airport transfers available to and from Geneva, Lyon, and Milan.

In a place as romantic as Chamonix, simply strolling the streets will have you feeling like you’re in a snow globe.

But if you’re looking for some additional activities to try with your loved one aside from skiing, make sure to take a trip to the top of the Aiguille du Midi, explore the ice caves of the Mer de Glace Glacier, and enjoy a relaxing soak in the thermal baths at QC Terme.

Book a stay at the historic Refuge du Montenvers for the ultimate couple's trip. With an incredible French restaurant on site, a panoramic bar just meters away, and an unbeatable secluded location surrounded by nothing but mountains and glaciers.

Courchevel Ski Resort

Recommended by Kylie Lang from Life in Rural France

Courchevel is a resort in the French Alps, part of the largest ski area in the world, Les Trois Vallées. If you're a couple who loves a little bit of luxury, it's the perfect ski resort in Courchevel, as it also happens to be the ski playground for the rich and famous.

Celebrities like David Beckham, George Clooney, and Leonardo DiCaprio are regulars, along with royal family members, so you'll be in good company.

Courchevel is like stepping into a scene on a Christmas card and is the ultimate romantic snow-filled destination with its cosy chalets, snowcapped mountains and pretty little villages. It's divided into several distinct areas, each named primarily after its altitude in metres.

Courchevel Le Praz (1300) is the original village of Courchevel, and Courchevel 1550 (also known as Courchevel Village) is more family-oriented.

Then there is Courchevel 1650, with a more laid-back vibe and finally, Courchevel 1850, where the stars hang out.

When I stayed here with my husband, there were two things we really enjoyed: a spa retreat and a sleigh ride.

Courchevel has many amazing luxury spas offering couple's massages, thermal baths, and wellness treatments. We tried Le Chabichou Spa & Wellness Centre, as we were staying at the hotel where it’s located, and the facials were out of this world.

And it doesn't get more romantic than a horse-drawn sleigh ride. We were wrapped up in blankets as we glided through the snow-covered forest. It was something I'll never forget.

From Geneva airport, it's about a 2.5-hour drive, allowing you to take in the breathtaking views of the snow-capped Alps. You can opt for a car rental, a private transfer, or even a helicopter ride for something a little more special.

Val Thorens Ski Resort

Recommended by Britt from the Travelling House Sitters

Val Thorens is nestled in the heart of the French Alps. It is the perfect hideaway for couples. Getting there is even part of the adventure - you can fly into Geneva, Lyon, or Grenoble and enjoy a scenic drive to the resort.

There is a cosy, romantic atmosphere at Val Thorens to soak up. Yes, you have world-class skiing, but you can enjoy many more activities.

There are snug mountain-side bars where you can sip hot chocolate or have a drink after a day on the slopes and endless choices of restaurants that have breathtaking mountain views.

You can also treat yourselves to a day at the spas and wellness centres. You can be soaking in hot tubs and enjoying rejuvenating massages, surrounded by snow-covered peaks. Another thrilling activity is taking a helicopter ride together and admiring the spectacular views of the Alps.

When it comes to the perfect place to stay, consider booking a romantic chalet or a snug suite in one of the cosy hotels like Altapura or Fahrenheit Seven. These accommodations offer a touch of luxury in a warm and intimate setting - ideal for unwinding together after a day of adventures.

Val Thorens is not just a ski resort; it's a haven for couples seeking a mix of adventure and romance. Whether you're hitting the slopes or indulging in world-class spas, this French Alps gem will create a winter escape you’ll never forget.

Alpe D’Huez Ski Resort

Recommended by Goya from GoyaGaleotta

Nestled in the French Alps, Alpe d'Huez is the perfect winter retreat. Picture a winding drive through snow-covered peaks after a flight to Lyon or Grenoble Airport - and suddenly, finding yourself immersed in a world of magic!

What makes this place a dream for couples? Well, beyond the sheer joy of weaving through endless slopes and carving the pristine snow together, Alpe d'Huez knows how to set the mood.

My husband and I spent our days conquering slopes and our nights revelling in the magic of this charming resort. We enjoyed romantic dinner dates and treated ourselves to some well-deserved R&R in the spas to soak away the day's adventures. Talk about the perfect blend of adrenaline and romance!

One standout? A late lunch date at La Fruitiere, perched at the top of the Marmotte lift. The view alone would have made it special, but throw in the delicious food, and it became a core memory.

Speaking of standout finds… Our alpine chalet wasn't just a place to crash; it was our cosy haven. Picture beers on the balcony, mountains as far as the eye can see, and nights spent snuggled up under the covers. The fireplace added that extra touch of warmth, turning a chilly night into a romantic haven.

If you're a couple looking for a mix of adventure and sweet moments, Alpe d'Huez is your spot. It’s more than a ski resort - it's a love affair with the mountains.

Sestrière Ski Resort in Piedmont

Recommended by Natalie from Love and Road

When I think of Sestrierè in winter, four things come to mind: Barolo wine, slow food movement, powder snow, and romantic evenings. Not necessarily in this order, I would put snow first on a winter morning and a big Italian dinner at the end of a tiring ski day.

Sestrière is an incredible ski resort town in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy. It sits on the Alps, near the border of France.

Getting there is easy, as it is one of the best ski resorts near Turin. You can fly to Turin (Piedmont capital city has a busy international airport), rent a car from there, or get a bus or train to Sestrière. The drive takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes, or 2 hours and 40 minutes by train.

Sestriere town is in the middle of the Via Lattea (Milk Way) Ski area with over 140 pistes, almost 400 km of runs, and all the ski facilities you could ever need.

But why is it so special for couples?

The answer is easy. Besides the snowcapped mountains and incredible slopes, Piedmont is home to one of the best wines in the world. It is called Barolo and comes from a town near Sestrière.

The region is also famous for its slow food movement focusing on local and seasonal food. It produces incredible ingredients like truffles, walnuts, the Fassone Piemontese - a traditional style of beef - and many varieties of delicious cheeses - every meal in Sestriere can be a feast or a romantic dinner.

On the other side, adventurous couples can go on a snowmobile trip across the incredible landscape with strategic stops at the Baitas, small restaurants/guesthouses that serve the best mountain food. Or even plan a picnic stop during the adventure.

If you want a more relaxing experience, dog-sledding is also a favourite among couples, as cute photos are guaranteed.

You can’t plan a romantic winter trip without a spa or sauna session. The Piscina Sestriere offers outdoor and indoor swimming pools at 2,000 meters above sea level. It is worth checking it out.

Another option is to stay in a hotel that offers Benessere, the Italian word for wellness centre. Many hotels have small saunas and massage services that you can book in advance, giving you more freedom and privacy on a romantic day.

Talking about stays, we loved Hotel Gran Roc, its nice rooms and lovely breakfast. Plus, it is only 250 meters from the closest ski lift.

Another option is the more traditional Hotel Savoy Sestriere with a spa and wellness centre, breakfast included in the rate, and only 300 meters from a ski lift.

And if you prefer a place to call home, Moda Apartments SC38 is a small studio where you can sleep and cook in private and be only 900 meters from the ski lifts.

Alta Badia Ski Resort

Recommended by Clotilde from A Princess Travelling With Twins

Northern Italy certainly does not lack for a large variety of ski resorts, but for those looking for a perfect place to spend a week with their partner, Alta Badia stands out from the rest.

Alta Badia is one of the top Dolomites ski resorts offering 120 km of skiiable slopes, with a perfect mix for both beginners and the more advanced. More advanced skiers can not only ski on the slopes of Alta Badia, but through the Dolomites ‘superski’ ski pass, they can also ski in all the adjacent resorts which are easily reachable on skis.

Being a large ski resort there is a high volume of people, but this does not take away the possibility of a romantic break.

Alta Badia organises many events linked to food and wine itineraries every year. Some are limited to one or two days, while others, like the sommelier on the slopes, offer options throughout the entire ski season. An expert guide and sommelier at the same time will take you from Utia to Utia (the refuges on the slopes) to taste the magnificent local wines.

If, however, you are still learning to ski, you will appreciate the incredible spas that the hotels in the area offer, where the services are great and relaxation is guaranteed.

The spa of the Posta Zirm Hotel in Corvara is famous and accessible even to non-guests, but my favourite place in Alta Badia remains the small family-run hotel Chalet La Bercia, where I have been returning for 5 years now. La Bercia has one of the most well-kept wellness areas ever seen and above all, has very competitive prices for double rooms suitable for couples.

Alta Badia is easily reachable by flying into Venice, Treviso or Verona and then renting a car to get to the resort. Private transfers are also available from Venice and Innsbruck.

Courmayeur Ski Resort

Recommended by Mike from Live Travel Teach

Courmayeur is a prime destination for couples visiting Europe, especially in winter.  The skiing here is pristine and views of Mont Blanc at the Courmayeur Mont Blanc Funivie will dazzle you regardless of your skiing or boarding abilities.

The panoramic views throughout the valley are incredible. In fact, Courmayeur’s Mont Blanc Funivie is used by summer hikers on their scenic tour du Mount Blanc, which makes it a great spot all year round.

The slopes in Courmayeur are just the beginning, with professional back-country tours between mountain huts and even helicopter skiing available too. These slopes provide the best of the Alps and the world-famous Aosta Valley.

Courmayeur is a resort town built for couples, with restaurants and shops lining the streets beneath ski trails. The town hosts many festivals and occasional documentaries about the area in their theatre, and Pre Saint Didier sports hot springs for a romantic getaway.

Ski all day and all night at Courmayeur with a cable car open until midnight, giving you access to dozens of ski trails. Courmayeur Mont Blanc has twenty different lifts and about 33 groomed ski trails for those of us preferring to stay at the resort.

However you plan a trip, you’ll have fun with your partner at Courmayeur!

We stayed at the Hotel Maison Sant Jean in Courmayeur and absolutely loved it!

Zermatt - Switzerland

Recommended by Linda from Hiking the Alps

Zermatt is without question one of the best European ski resorts for couples. The quaint mountain village is located in the south of Switzerland, at the foot of the world-famous Matterhorn, and skiing in Zermatt has become synonymous with adventurous couples from around the world.

It is around 3 hours by car or train from Zurich, but as the village is car-free, the train is ideal and stress-free for your journey, so a Swiss Travel Pass is highly recommended. Does the Swiss Travel Pass cover Zermatt? Thankfully, yes!

The majestic Matterhorn and the neighbouring summits are among the highest in the Alps and provide a breathtaking backdrop. The spectacular views from various viewpoints create a romantic atmosphere, especially at sunrise and sunset, meaning there are many romantic things to do in Zermatt.

My husband and I had a fabulous view of the famous mountain from the Alpine Hotel Perren and admired the colours in the sky from the balcony every day.

Zermatt also offers a wide range of ski slopes for different skiing levels, which is ideal for couples. 360km of slopes allows you to ski together, even with different skill levels.

The numerous romantic mountain huts with views of the Matterhorn are ideal places to take a break. You can relax there with a warm drink or a snack and enjoy time together.

Skiing is obviously one of the best things to do in Zermatt during Winter, but the resort also offers many off-piste activities for couples: romantic walks and winter hikes through the snow-covered landscape or shared experiences in one of the many fantastic Zermatt Wellness Hotels with their relaxing Spa areas.

This wide range of activities, the romantic backdrop and the variety of experiences make Zermatt one of the best European ski resorts for couples.

Cerler Ski Resort - Spain

Recommended by Samara Kamenecka from Spain Awaits

One of the best ski resorts in Europe for couples is Cerler, in Huesca, in the Pyrenees Mountains. The resort spans 81 km, is surrounded by more than 60 peaks, and is home to the only glaciers in Spain.

Time and again, Cerler has been named the Best Spanish Ski Resort at the World Ski Resorts, known as the “Oscars” of winter tourism. It’s an excellent spot for couples as it offers outstanding service, the surroundings are absolutely stunning, and the general vibe is relaxed and romantic. There’s even a giant red steel heart at the top of one of the mountains. The tradition is that couples take a photo there and share it on social media with the tag #CerlerEnamora (#FallInLoveAtCerler).

If you need a break from skiing, head with your partner to the Cafeteria Remáscaro for a night of partying. A DJ plays fantastic music at the weekend to keep you entertained and dancing all evening and into the wee hours.

If you're looking for something more low-key, escape to the Rincón del Cielo and take in the sunset from this panoramic lookout, from which you can see the highest peaks of the Pyrenees Mountains. Alternatively, you can eat a delicious, romantic dinner in the moonlight at El Bosque, a cosy cabin-like restaurant at the top of a mountain.

For accommodation, stay at SOMMOS Hotel Aneto, the only 4-star hotel in the area. Not only is it a stone’s throw from Cerler, but it’s also charming and elegant, and the staff really go the extra mile to ensure you have everything you need for your couples’ winter break in Europe.

Levi Ski Resort - Finland

Submitted by Veronika from Travel Geekery

Finland is quite a flat country but if you venture further north, above the polar circle, you’ll find the premier ski resort in the Nordics - Levi.

Levi is located in Lapland territory, in the Kittilä district. It lies just on the edge of the village Sirkka. To get there, you can fly to Rovaniemi and then take a 2-hour drive or hop on a bus.

Levi features many world-class slopes of all difficulties, complete with ski lifts. Of course, it’s not just about skiing and snowboarding; you can engage in a myriad of other winter activities. Cross-country skiing or snowshoe hiking are a must.

And since you’re in Finland, a good sauna session comes in handy, too, complete with cooling off in the freshly fallen snow.

While a sauna experience can be a private romantic activity, there are a few more activities specific to Lapland, which you can cover in Levi, too. Two-person tours include a snowmobile ride across frozen lakes and a Husky safari - one of you steers the huskies, and the other sits on the sleigh. It’s a lot of fun!

If you’re incredibly lucky, you can enjoy these activities and have the magical Northern lights performing their otherworldly show above your head.

I find the snowy landscape so romantic. If you’re with your loved one, the simplest thing to do is just to have fun in the snow - build a snowman, have a snowball fight or go for a romantic, wintery walk together. The snow-covered trees provide for a beautiful background.

There are many different types of accommodation in Levi, and nearly all feature a sauna. I stayed in a privately rented cabin with friends but you can opt for a stay in the Levi Hotel Spa, which is a beautiful boutique spa hotel, a 5-minute walk away from the slopes.

Kitzbühel Ski Resort - Austria

Recommended by Marina from Paulmarina

The Kitzbühel Ski resort in Austria, also known as KitzSki, is located in the alpine region of Tyrol. You can fly in from 3 airports to get there. Both Innsbruck and Salzburg are just 1 hour away by car, and the Munich International Airport, with more frequent connections, is about 2 1/2 hours from Kitzbühel by car or train.

Known as a jet-setter hideout, Kitzbühel has long been acknowledged as a premium ski resort in Europe and the world. It has been awarded the best ski resort with its perfectly manicured slopes, 57 lifts and cable cars, and an impressive 110 square miles of interconnected skiing areas.

Beginners, Intermediaries and Advanced skiers will feel at home on these slopes. Group or private skiing instructions can be arranged in all possible languages.

Just imagine booking a private skiing instructor for you and your other half to take your skiing skills effortlessly to the next level.

To make this an unforgettable romantic trip, I highly recommend spending a few days in one of the top 5-star resorts such as the glorious Schlosshotel Lebenberg. After a long day on the pistes, an in-house spa with large sauna and pool facilities awaits you.

Take a stroll through the small and vibrant old town of Kitzbühel and head to the Londoner Pub for a drink or two, or plan a day trip to visit the charming medieval town of Rattenberg or Hall in Tirol.

The region has a lot to offer, and many more excursions to stunning places can be organised from Kitzbühel, making it one of the best ski resorts in Europe for couples to enjoy.

Sierra Nevada - Spain

Recommended by Linn from Amused by Andalucia

Sierra Nevada in southern Spain is a wonderful ski resort for couples. Not only is it the southernmost ski resort in Europe, but it is also located 2 hours from sunny beaches.

There are 24 ski lifts taking you to over 100 slopes, both for beginners and seasoned skiers alike, making skiing in Sierra Nevada fun for everyone.

If you’re newbies, why not book private ski lessons you can do as a couple? If you need to rent equipment, there are plenty of rental shops around Pradollano village and even right at the entrance of the ski lift. We rented there and booked private lessons at the same time which was great!

The ski resort is super cosy with plenty of restaurants and bars to relax after long days on the slopes. It is also not too large and busy, so you get the perfect small-town feel.

Granada Airport is the closest to the Sierra Nevada ski resort, but there are usually more flights to Malaga International Airport, and they are typically more affordable. It is only a 2-hour drive from Malaga to Sierra Nevada, so looking into flights there can be worthwhile.

There are plenty of places to stay in Pradollano. If you prefer a ski-in ski-out hotel, check in at Hotel Maribel. They have a spa and wellness centre where you can enjoy a couple’s treatment for total relaxation.

If you prefer an apartment with a kitchen to cook your own meals, many options are available!

You can book a snowshoe hike if you fancy a winter activity different from skiing or snowboarding. It is really fun, and though it is usually a group activity, it can be fun to meet others, too.

Granada is under an hour away, so I highly recommend a day trip to the city to visit the Alhambra Palace. Explore the cobblestoned streets of the Albaicin neighbourhood, where you also get epic views of the Alhambra Palace with the snowcapped Sierra Nevada mountain range as a backdrop.

The Sierra Nevada Ski Resort is a perfect winter escape destination and makes for a very romantic ski resort in Europe.

Arctic Heli Skiing Resort - Iceland

Recommended by Soline from On the Road Diary

If you share a passion for skiing with your loved one and want a unique ski experience in Iceland, Arctic Heli Skiing Resort is for you.

This ski resort is located in the north of Iceland, the land of ice and fire. It is a 50-minute drive from Akureyri, the second biggest city in Iceland, also known as the “capital of the north”. You can either drive there or take a plane from Reykjavik.

Heli Skiing Resort is unique for two reasons: its location and the heli-skiing experience.

Heli-skiing means taking short helicopter rides to get to the top of the ski slopes. This is a pretty unreal experience with fantastic sea and snowy mountain views.

The ski slopes face the Atlantic Ocean, making the views while skiing absolutely mesmerising.

It really is out in nature, isolated from the rest of the world, and going to a place like this with your partner can only strengthen your bond.

The north of Iceland has much to offer aside from its ski slopes. There are some of the best free hot springs in Iceland, as well as large waterfalls.

You won’t need to worry about housing since the Heli Skiing Resort boasts on-site accommodation - Klængshóll Lodge or Ravenhill Lodge, as translated into English. You can stay there to be as close as possible to the ski slopes, or, given that heli-skiing is quite expensive, you can decide to stay in the town’s centre, at Hótel Dalvík, an excellent, cost-effective alternative.

Zell am See - Austria

Recommended by Gabi from Under Flowery Sky

The charming Zell am See is bursting with attractions and fascinating scenery, being the adorable ski resort of Austria. The breathtaking lake views are inspiring enough to visit the Schmittenhöhe above the town.

Zell am See lies south of Salzburg, about 1.5h by train, unveiling the incredible Zell am See-Kaprun region. The Old Town is quite cute, allowing you to enjoy its painted facades, bars and shops, with the lovely village of Kaprun only 8 km away.

With the fabulous scenery around the lake, romance is easy to come by in this famous ski resort in Austria. The cable car will take you to the marvellous views to enjoy delicious food and drink. Taking a romantic boat trip or visiting the Therme Tauern Spa are fabulous things to enjoy in the town.

More than 30 mountain peaks are found in Hohe Tauern National Park, leading to endless discoveries. The stunning viewpoint on Kitzsteinhorn is particularly attractive as the highest viewpoint of the Salzburgerland. You can reach it by cable car from the nearby Kaprun.

A fantastic hike in the Sigmund Thun Gorge is an accessible activity just outside Kaprun with beautiful waterfalls.

Zell Am See offers cosy stays in the Old Town, such as the Romantikhotel Zell Am See, with a sauna and tranquil garden. Alternatively, you can enjoy the fabulous ambience of the Familotel Amiamo directly on the ski slope.

Baqueira-Beret - Spain

Recommended by Timon from Travel Spain 24

If you’re looking for the best ski resorts in Europe for couples, many people overlook Spain. However, while you may have an image of hot, sunny beaches and palm trees, there is actually snow in Spain, providing opportunities for a couple's ski getaway.

One of the most romantic places is Baqueira-Beret. This popular Spanish ski resort was host to the Spanish Royal Family, and it is nestled in the Catalan Pyrenees. Baqueira-Beret has over 100 miles of ski area with a base elevation of 4,900 feet.

There are slopes for all levels of skiers, and the resort has three valleys that are all interconnected. It is typically open from mid-December until mid-April.

You can fly into Barcelona, Zaragoza or Toulouse to reach Baqueira-Beret, which is a couple of hours drive away. This allows you to enjoy some scenic driving as you head into the mountains.

One of the most attractive features of Baqueira-Beret is that it offers many accommodation options, particularly for couples. For example, Eira Ski Lodge offers ski-to-door access and guests can enjoy free WiFi, a terrace and shared lounge. You can even purchase your ski pass at the hotel’s sales point.

While Baqueira-Beret has a number of restaurants, cafes and bistros, you don’t need to worry about finding somewhere to eat, as Eira offers a full English breakfast each morning, complimentary afternoon tea and dinner service six days a week.

While Eira and other hotels in Baqueira-Beret offer easy access to the slopes, there are other activities couples can enjoy. This includes hikes, snowmobile tours, dog sledding and more.

All together, this makes Baqueira-Beret one of the best and most romantic ski resorts in Europe.

Bansko - Bulgaria

Recommended by Luba from Wonders of Bulgaria

Nestled amidst the picturesque Pirin Mountains, Bansko is Bulgaria's largest and most charming ski resort and thankfully, getting there is relatively easy.

It is located approx. 160 km from Sofia, meaning you can fly into the capital and get a bus to Bansko. Alternatively, you could rent a car and drive there - it takes less than 2 hours.

Skiing in Bansko isn’t the only thing you can do in this wonderful Bulgarian resort. Bansko is emerging as a romantic escape, making it an ideal destination for couples seeking a memorable Winter retreat.

There are several natural mineral springs dotted around the town of Bansko, and while the majority aren’t thermal springs, there are still some to be found if you know where to look.

One of these, Regnum Banya, is located in Banya - a small village next to Bansko. Especially when it’s snowing, relaxing in the hot springs here is one of the most romantic experiences you can have in Bansko!

Particularly friendly for beginners, Bansko offers accessible and extensive blue slopes, making it an excellent starting point for those stepping onto skis or a snowboard for the first time. And if you want to do something different, there are various experiences in and around Bansko, such as horse riding, ATV adventures and more.

Beyond its winter charms, Bansko is home to a vibrant digital nomad community alongside a friendly local population. This infusion of diverse lifestyles creates a unique and welcoming atmosphere, making Bansko a ski destination and a dynamic and inclusive community where everyone feels welcome.

Fun fact: we (Orla and Ben) visited Bansko as a couple during the Winter of 2022 and loved it so much that we are returning for our ski holiday in early 2024!

There we have it, folks, a conclusive round-up of the best recommendations of European Ski Resort for couples. Skiing as a couple is an excellent way to strengthen your relationship by facing new challenges and having time to relax in the spa or sauna together at the end of a busy day.

We thought we’d round out the article by answering a few common questions couples can have about skiing with their partner and European Ski Holidays in general. Hopefully, the recommendations here inspire you to book a couples’ ski holiday in Europe ASAP.

Why is skiing good for a couples holiday?

We think that what makes skiing great for a couples’ holiday is that you can face challenges together on the mountain while being in the great outdoors. After a busy day on the slopes, you can head to the bar for some Apres Ski together or, if you prefer, head back to your hotel and jump straight into the hot tub with a glass of bubbly - what could be more romantic than that?

Can you go skiing as a couple?

Of course, you can! Many people ask us whether going skiing (or, in our case, snowboarding) together can be stressful, and honestly, it’s not at all. Yes, you may have to be patient with each other when you’re falling on the snow and getting frustrated, but in the end, it will be the best winter adventure you can have as a couple!

What makes a romantic ski resort?

When searching for a romantic ski holiday, you need to consider how busy the resort will be, the accommodation options, and how convenient the bars and restaurants are to the main ski hill. Getting a good balance of all 3 of those factors (like all the Ski Resorts listed above) is key to a romantic ski resort.
